CK-Paltrow Release

The trends of the past few years have yielded highly feminine looks from Elie Saab, Chanel, and Valentino among others featuring ruffles, poufs, curving lines, and generally large skirts. I had thought that clean minimalist lines were all but forgotten, not that I don't enjoy the occasional prom dress now and then. There's just something refreshing about taking a design that basically amounts to a potato sack and making it look absolutely gorgeous.

Calvin Klein is the king of complicating simplicity in just this way.

At the 83rd Academy Awards, there were so many really beautiful designs that I had much to choose from, many projects for the upcoming months, and I chose to start with Gwyneth Paltrow's flawless choice with the CK Collection gown she wore. The dress is floor length with a left side slit and a mere 5 seams. The dress is a fluid nylon matte-sequined fabric in pale gold, and though it's a column style dress, the knit hugs the curves. The sleeveless dress features a double-seamed waistline accented by a Louis Vuitton gem brooch. The envelope collar plunges to a squared midriff-dropped keyhole opening for added drama. The ensemble includes top, glitch, system skirt, flexi piece for movement, envelope collar prim, and Vuitton earring and brooch set.

On sale this week only in the main shop.
