CK-Paltrow Release

The trends of the past few years have yielded highly feminine looks from Elie Saab, Chanel, and Valentino among others featuring ruffles, poufs, curving lines, and generally large skirts. I had thought that clean minimalist lines were all but forgotten, not that I don't enjoy the occasional prom dress now and then. There's just something refreshing about taking a design that basically amounts to a potato sack and making it look absolutely gorgeous.

Calvin Klein is the king of complicating simplicity in just this way.

At the 83rd Academy Awards, there were so many really beautiful designs that I had much to choose from, many projects for the upcoming months, and I chose to start with Gwyneth Paltrow's flawless choice with the CK Collection gown she wore. The dress is floor length with a left side slit and a mere 5 seams. The dress is a fluid nylon matte-sequined fabric in pale gold, and though it's a column style dress, the knit hugs the curves. The sleeveless dress features a double-seamed waistline accented by a Louis Vuitton gem brooch. The envelope collar plunges to a squared midriff-dropped keyhole opening for added drama. The ensemble includes top, glitch, system skirt, flexi piece for movement, envelope collar prim, and Vuitton earring and brooch set.

On sale this week only in the main shop.

*~s0c~* Little Black Dress for Coco Chanel

One is never over nor underdressed in a little black dress--Coco Chanel

As famous for her bite-worthy quips as much as her classically chic designs, Coco Chanel has long been attributed as birthing the Little Black Dress now obtaining the industry-recognized acronym LBD. Of course there were other black dresses before hers as well as after, but no one promoted the LBD as well as she.

Even if Coco didn't exactly give birth to the LBD as necessaire de l'armoire for women of couture, as an adoptive mother, her maternal instincts were incomparable. S0phie's Choice Design celebrates Coco's instinct, insight, and spirit of all women of high fashion embodied by the most iconic piece of clothing any can own.

We give you *~s0c~* Coco's LBD.

The ensemble includes a tank-style surplice top, glitch, and slim system skirt with painfully matched pleating in front and back, as well as two styles of sequined back drapes, one with animated sparkle and one without, completed with matching sequined shoulder straps. Whether it's a cocktail gathering or date, or an elegant gala, this LBD blends perfectly with the style of Chanel and the quality of *~s0c~*. The ensemble is packaged either as an 11pc complete with Coco's Bellaguzzi Stilettos, or without as a simple 9 pc dress ensemble. Shoes also sold separately.

Once the paparazzi start following you, never look back :)

Winter Fantasy Anniversary Formal Gown Ensemble

Perfect for every winter formal occasion the soft delicate snowflakes grace the wearer from bodice to floor-length hemline in this crystal cutwork fantasy-quality gown. To honor the one year anniversary of my clothing label featuring the best in women's formal fashion and footwear, I created "Winter Fantasy" as one of the most ethereal formal ensembles a woman could wear to any ballroom in SL, from the most realistic to the most surreal.

The ensemble features a sweetheart styled strapless deep u-backed bodice with optional organza prim sleeves, glitch pants, and two skirt packages, all skirts having a different snowflake pattern. The Basic Formal Ensemble comes with a single layer cutwork ballroom skirt. The Grand Ballroom Ensemble includes gloves and an additional three ballroom prim skirt styles all with different snowflake patterns on them ranging from an Elizabethan style full ballroom skirt, to a double layer, to a trained wedding skirt style. The Grand Ballroom Skirt Package is also available for purchase separately which includes the three ballroom skirts only to be matched with a Basic Ensemble purchased prior.

The ensemble comes in the prismatic colors of the snow which inspired it: white, ivory, crystal (white with multicolor crystalline effect), palest pink, palest blue, and palest lavender. Premiere members enjoy a free Basic Formal Ensemble in celebration of the anniversary of the store!

Thanks to all who have helped make the label successful, and cheers to a wonderful new year!

*~s0c~* ANNIVERSARY

One year ago today, the very first dress under the *~s0c~* label was released--a D-Squared reproduction that Nelly Furtado wore to an MTV VMA Awards celebration. The dress was named "Nelly D2 MTV Awards Gown" and came with an elaborate diamond body chain used both as straps for the dress as well as for jewelry, exactly as in the original dress. The original gown came in a nude platinum shade and was optimized for SL in several colors including a deeper bronzed nude, caribe blue, bougainvillea pinkish red, and palm green. S0phie's Choice Design invites you to visit the store this week to see the new anniversary gown created for this event and to try your luck at winning the store's premiere design, Nelly D2 MTV!

Best of luck, and. . .thank you for a wonderful first year serving your couture needs in SL.

Zellweger-Herrera Oscars Formal Gown

Finally here!

For anyone who follows Red Carpet fashion, it's no secret that Renee Zellweger is seldom seen in any other designer but Carolina Herrera. And while often there's a miniscule hint of whimsy in Herrera's lines, she is mainly known for more classic styles, "safe" for the not-so-fashionista red-carpet-walkers like Zellweger who has been heavily criticized for her faithlessness in any other label.

This is the dress that shut up the critical fashion paparazzi....

It's a silver sequined stunner with femininity softening the glitzy shine. With a mixture of asymmetrical sequined banding on the bodice for waistline slimming, and the same banding angled outward from waist to foot for a similar visual effect, the strapless dress has a low sweetheart neckline which features beaded fringe flexi trim from side to side over the jeweled True Bust prim. The bodice dips in back to a slightly-below waist U-back with the same sequined banding. The beaded fringe is repeated on the high left leg slit. The ensemble comes with slit-leg glitch, two top options, two brooches, a True Bust prim, and for those who want more ruffle in their step, a prim skirt (optional).

Several colors are available in all stores now in peau de soie reflecting the warmth and richness of the holidays! Pictured left is the first in the Bellaguzzi Bridal line which is the Mother-of-Pearl encrusted shoe.

This shoe is available in the main store now, but it will be included in the next celebrity dress release slated for Saturday, December 11, 2010.

Don't forget, if these are on someone's Christmas list who's been especially good this year, the gift vendors are located upstairs!
